avi's annaprasana was today and marks the first time of him eating "big people's food"! rice pudding, fish, veggies - yummy!!! without hesitation, the little man put down every morsel that was fed to him by his two uncles rohan and nikul. this very important bengali tradition that occurs when a baby reaches six-seven months of age was planned, organized and thrown by my mother and father (thank you gammy and dadu!!!). it was a joyous day and one that we will always remember! about seventy people, consisting of family and friends coming from near and far, eagerly watched on, as avi took this big step in his life. the celebration was concluded with a tray of items, such as a pen, book, money, dirt, etc...that symbolize the potential future that may lie ahead for lil avi! so, what did this tradition tell us of avi's future - a writer? a scholar? maybe a money-maker? how about real estate? his curious hands intially touched the shiny coins, then it appeared as though he had his eyes dead set on his dr. seuss book, as he was reaching for his story book, his hands happen to come upon the grass/dirt...this new substance was just too cool and was what he eventually clutched in his hand, proudly displaying to all - so, donald trump, watch out! we've got a new real estate mogul on the way! all in all, avi was a model baby that was on his best behavior for all! thanks mom & dad, we really appreciate it! and mom, the fish was the bomb :)
